Tradify vs ServiceM8: Which Is Better for Irish Tradespeople

Tradify: built for trades, feels like it

Tradify was designed specifically for tradespeople. It covers quoting, job scheduling, timesheets, invoicing, and purchase orders. The interface is straightforward and everything connects. Quote a job, schedule it, track time, invoice it, and follow up if the customer hasn’t paid.

It works well for teams. You can assign jobs to staff, track where everyone is, and manage subbies. It integrates with Xero and MYOB for accounting. Pricing is per user, per month, which can add up if you have a bigger team.

ServiceM8: flexible and powerful

ServiceM8 is popular across trades and field services. It does quoting, scheduling, invoicing, and has some features Tradify doesn’t, like online booking, automated emails and texts, and a client portal. It’s more customisable but can feel like more setup is needed to get it right.

ServiceM8 charges based on the number of jobs you log per month, not per user. For a busy sole trader or small team doing lots of smaller jobs, this can work out well. It also integrates with Xero and QuickBooks.

Which one should you pick

If you want something that’s simple to set up, works out of the box, and is clearly built for trades, go with Tradify. If you want more flexibility, automation features, and don’t mind spending a bit more time on setup, ServiceM8 is worth a look.

Either way, the biggest improvement isn’t which app you choose. It’s moving from paper and memory to a system that tracks everything in one place.
